**Vijayawada, February 28, 2025** – The Andhra Pradesh government has announced a record allocation of ₹34,311 crore for education in the 2025-26 budget, representing a significant increase over the previous year. This commitment, according to IT and Education Minister Nara Lokesh, reflects the state’s dedication to making its school education system the best in the country.
The budget includes ₹31,805 crore for school education and ₹2,506 crore for higher education. A key highlight is the provision of free electricity to all government schools, a move aimed at easing financial burdens on local bodies and reducing pressure on teachers and students.
The budget also allocates funds for the launch of the “Thalli ki vandanam” scheme, a key initiative under the “Super Six” program. This scheme will provide support to every student from Class I to Class XII.
Minister Lokesh emphasized the government’s commitment to strengthening the public education system and highlighted the establishment of the Ratan Tata Innovation Hub in Amaravati as a step towards providing international-level opportunities for Andhra Pradesh’s youth. The increased funding, he stated, will facilitate the achievement of the proposed Andhra Pradesh Model Education System. The overall state budget stands at ₹3.2 lakh crore.
