**Kurnool, Andhra Pradesh, February 28, 2025** – A tragic accident at the SLBC tunnel project has resulted in the deaths of five workers. Authorities confirmed the discovery of the bodies after a ground-penetrating radar (GPR) scan conducted by the National Remote Sensing Agency. The scan, completed Friday morning, revealed the bodies trapped approximately 150 meters inside the tunnel, buried under 10 cubic meters of mud within the Tunnel Boring Machine’s (TBM) advance.
While the GPR scan successfully located five distinct areas indicative of bodies, the recovery process is expected to take several weeks due to the significant amount of mud. Removal is considered extremely challenging. Authorities plan to excavate the identified locations to retrieve the remains.
However, Kurnool District Collector Santosh Banot has refuted the reports, stating there is no official confirmation regarding the casualties and urging caution against disseminating unverified information. Further updates are awaited from official sources.
