Thu Feb 27 08:55:00 UTC 2025: ## Beloved Elephant “Kasera Komban” Found Dead in Kerala Septic Tank

**Malappuram, Kerala – February 27, 2025** – A much-loved wild elephant known as “Kasera Komban” for its exceptionally long tusks was discovered dead in an abandoned septic tank in Malappuram district, Kerala, on Thursday. The approximately 50-year-old tusker, a familiar and non-aggressive presence in the Cholamunda village near Moothedam, was found in the tank adjacent to the Karulai forest range.

While the tank was only about two meters deep and covered with a tarpaulin, forest officials believe the fall was not the direct cause of death. The elephant appeared emaciated and suffered from a maggot-infested wound. Old age is suspected as the primary cause of death. The incident highlights the potential dangers faced by wild animals venturing near human settlements.
