**WINSTON-SALEM, N.C.** – Isaac McKneely led the Virginia Cavaliers to a thrilling 83-75 victory over the Wake Forest Demon Deacons Wednesday night, setting a new season high in points for the Cavaliers. McKneely’s impressive 27-point performance, fueled by 10-of-14 shooting (including 4-of-7 from three-point range), proved pivotal in overcoming Wake Forest’s persistent comeback attempts.
Dai Dai Ames (14 points), Andrew Rohde (13 points), and Jacob Cofie (12 points) also contributed significantly to Virginia’s offensive prowess, which saw the team shoot 55.8% from the field (29-of-52).
Despite Hunter Sallis’s 25 points and Cameron Hildreth’s 22 points for Wake Forest, including a late push that narrowed the gap to just two points, the Cavaliers consistently countered the Demon Deacons’ rallies. Efton Reid III also contributed a double-double for Wake Forest with 12 points and 10 rebounds.
Virginia built a commanding lead in the first half, extending it to double digits multiple times in the second half. While Wake Forest mounted several challenges, Virginia ultimately sealed the victory with a decisive 13-4 run in the final minutes.
The win improves Virginia’s record to 14-14 (7-10 ACC). Wake Forest falls to 19-9 (11-6 ACC). Virginia faces a tough matchup against 13th-ranked Clemson on Saturday, while Wake Forest hosts Notre Dame.
