**Kolkata, February 27, 2025** – Train services on the Howrah-Bandel-Bardhaman main line of Eastern Railway (ER) were disrupted for nearly three hours on Thursday morning due to a technical malfunction. The disruption, which occurred during peak commuter hours between 8:20 a.m. and 11:07 a.m., caused significant delays and cancellations.
According to an ER official, the problem stemmed from a Bandel-Howrah EMU local train whose pantograph became entangled with the overhead wire as it departed Bandel station. This resulted in the cancellation of 23 suburban trains. Normal train services were restored after repairs were completed at 11:07 a.m. The incident caused major inconvenience to a large number of passengers.
