**NEW YORK, NY** – Luigi de Guzman secured a commanding victory in Monday’s Jeopardy! Invitational Tournament game, earning a spot in the semifinals. Facing stiff competition from returning Jeopardy! Masters champion Amy Schneider and Teen Tournament winner Avi Gupta, de Guzman showcased impressive buzzer speed and knowledge, maintaining a substantial lead throughout the game.
De Guzman’s strong performance included a near-perfect run in the Double Jeopardy round, where he correctly answered 12 clues. His strategic Daily Double wagers further solidified his advantage going into Final Jeopardy.
The Final Jeopardy! clue, categorized under “American Authors,” proved challenging for all contestants. The clue, referencing F. Scott Fitzgerald’s military service and his meeting with Zelda Sayre, stumped Schneider and Gupta. Although both came close, only de Guzman correctly named Fitzgerald, securing his victory with a final score of $18,799. Schneider finished second with $4,200 and Gupta third with $4,367.
While Schneider and Gupta put up strong fights, de Guzman’s consistent accuracy and confident betting ultimately led him to victory. The game highlighted the intense skill level of the Jeopardy! Invitational Tournament, with all three contestants displaying exceptional knowledge and quick reflexes. The tournament continues Tuesday with another match-up.
