**Hyderabad, February 27, 2025** – The Telangana government announced the formation of a legal expert committee to address longstanding issues surrounding Dubai-based real estate firm Emaar Properties. This follows a meeting between Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and Emaar representatives, led by founder Mohamed Alabbar.
The agreement between Emaar and the then-united Andhra Pradesh government in 2001, concerning the development of a convention center, golf course, and villas, has been embroiled in controversy since the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and Enforcement Directorate (ED) launched investigations into alleged irregularities. These cases are currently undergoing investigation and litigation.
While a high-power committee, headed by the Chief Secretary, was formed in 2015 to address the matter, the new legal committee will provide an additional layer of review. Chief Minister Reddy instructed officials to thoroughly examine all relevant documents, including court cases and suggestions from the Central government.
Emaar representatives pledged to collaborate with the Telangana government, forming a legal team in consultation with the United Arab Emirates government. Chief Minister Reddy welcomed this offer, stating that the newly established legal committee would work with Emaar’s legal representatives to develop a plan for resolving the outstanding issues.
