**Chennai, February 27, 2025** – A security guard at the residence of Naam Tamilar Katchi (NTK) leader Seeman has been arrested for allegedly obstructing police officers investigating the tearing of a summons. The summons directed Seeman to appear before the Valasaravakkam police in connection with a rape case filed against him in 2011 by a Bengaluru-based actor.
The arrest follows a Madras High Court order dismissing Seeman’s petition to quash the FIR. The court had directed the police to complete the investigation within 12 weeks and ordered Seeman’s presence at a March hearing. When Seeman failed to appear on Thursday, police pasted the summons on his gate. Shortly after, it was torn.
Police arrived to question Seeman’s aide, but the security guard, Amal Raj, reportedly resisted their entry and a struggle ensued. A pistol was seized from Raj, who was subsequently arrested and taken to a hospital for treatment.
Seeman, speaking to reporters in Hosur, stated he would not appear before the Valasaravakkam police, claiming the summons was politically motivated and timed to coincide with upcoming elections. He accused the DMK of using the complainant against him. The police investigation is ongoing.
