**Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh:** Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath declared the recently concluded Maha Kumbh 2025 a resounding global success, attributing its smooth execution to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision. Addressing reporters, Adityanath expressed gratitude to the media for their coverage, emphasizing the event’s international reach.
Over 66 crore pilgrims and tourists visited Prayagraj during the 45-day event, setting new records in religious tourism. Representatives from over 100 countries, including ambassadors and high commissioners from 74 nations, and ministers and presidents from 12 countries participated. This influx contributed significantly to the state’s burgeoning spiritual tourism sector, which saw a total of 64 crore pilgrims and tourists visiting various religious sites across Uttar Pradesh in 2024 alone.
Adityanath highlighted PM Modi’s integration of faith and economy, stating that Uttar Pradesh is ideally positioned to capitalize on the potential of spiritual tourism. The Maha Kumbh facilitated the development of five major spiritual tourism corridors, connecting key religious sites across the state.
The event’s success relied heavily on a significant investment of approximately Rs 7,500 crore in infrastructure development, including over 200 roads, 14 flyovers, multiple underpasses, and 12 new corridors in Prayagraj. Around one lakh personnel from various state and central government agencies, including extensive police deployment and advanced technological surveillance (30,000 AI-enabled CCTV cameras and facial recognition technology), ensured smooth operations and crowd management. Transportation was facilitated by over 7,000 state transport buses, 750 shuttle buses, and nearly 13,000 special trains operated by Indian Railways. The CM personally monitored arrangements, utilizing the extensive camera network for real-time assessment. The state also deployed over 15,000 sanitation workers.
