Wed Feb 26 18:31:44 UTC 2025: ## Parivahan Website Glitch Halts PUC Certificate Issuance in Tamil Nadu
**Madurai, February 27, 2025** – A technical glitch in the Parivahan website, used to generate Pollution Under Control (PUC) certificates for vehicles in Tamil Nadu, has brought the system to a standstill for the past five days. This is causing significant disruption for vehicle owners and emission testing centers across the state.
The Association of Motor Vehicle Emission Testing Centres’ State president, S. Nanthagopal, stated that all 550 emission testing centers in Tamil Nadu are affected. The website is rejecting uploaded documents, photos, and videos required for certificate processing. This is leading to heavy fines for vehicles, particularly heavy vehicles traveling to other states, lacking valid PUC certificates.
The problem is also impacting the issuance of fitness certificates (FCs) at Regional Transport Offices (RTOs) as PUC certificates are a prerequisite. While an RTO official confirmed that technicians in Chennai are working to resolve the issue, the ongoing disruption highlights the reliance on the Parivahan website and the impact of its malfunction. The website, launched in 2019, was initially praised for streamlining the certificate generation process.
