Thu Feb 27 09:20:00 UTC 2025: **Rain Washes Out Pakistan vs Bangladesh Champions Trophy Clash**
Rawalpindi, Pakistan – The ninth match of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 between Pakistan and Bangladesh was abandoned due to persistent rain. Heavy downpour and a waterlogged outfield at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium prevented even the toss from taking place.
Both teams, already eliminated from the semi-final contention following consecutive losses, endured disappointing campaigns. This marks the third consecutive instance of Pakistan’s early exit from a global limited-overs tournament, following their first-round eliminations in the 2023 ODI World Cup and the 2024 T20 World Cup. Bangladesh’s performance, marked by average bowling and fielding, mirrored Pakistan’s struggles. The match was called off after several delays, with ground covers remaining in place throughout the afternoon. While there was a brief respite in the rain, the outfield remained unplayable.
Despite the teams’ poor performances throughout the tournament, this was to have been the first ever Champions Trophy encounter between Pakistan and Bangladesh. Pakistan, in particular, had hoped to salvage some pride after significant investment from the PCB in hosting the tournament.
