Thu Feb 27 15:59:20 UTC 2025: ## Former Andhra Pradesh MP Summoned in POCSO Case

**Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh –** Vijayawada Cybercrime Police served a notice on Thursday night to Gorantla Madhav, a former YSRCP MP from Hindupur, to appear for questioning on March 5th in connection with a POCSO case filed last November. The case stems from a complaint by former Andhra Pradesh Mahila Commission Chairperson Vasireddy Padma, who alleged that Madhav revealed the names of multiple rape victims, including minors.

Madhav, a former police officer, received the notice at his Anantapur residence and publicly read its contents, stating it was served under Section 35/3 of the BNS Act. He denies wrongdoing, claiming he only revealed names already publicized in the media and social media, while criticizing the government’s failure to protect women. He alleges the notice is an attempt to stifle opposition voices and create a climate of fear, further accusing the state government of targeting opposition leaders with false cases. He specifically mentioned Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and Deputy Chief Minister K. Pawan Kalyan, warning of potential internal strife if such actions continue.

Madhav stated he will cooperate with the police and judiciary but will consult his legal team before responding to the notice. He also accused Mr. Naidu of similarly revealing the names of rape victims at various public gatherings. The investigation is ongoing.
