NELLORE, Andhra Pradesh – February 27, 2025 – Andhra Pradesh is drawing inspiration from the recently concluded Maha Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, to prepare for the Godavari Maha Pushkaram in July 2027. A delegation led by Municipal Administration and Urban Development (MA&UD) Minister Ponguru Narayana recently completed a two-day study tour of the Kumbh Mela site.
The delegation, which included senior officials, observed crowd management strategies, traffic control measures, and the management of waste and hygiene at the mega-religious event. They received a presentation from Kumbh Mela officials outlining the logistical planning involved. The team also visited the command control center and various bathing ghats to assess the practical aspects of managing millions of devotees.
The Godavari Maha Pushkaram, a significant religious event held once every 12 years, is expected to attract a large number of pilgrims. The state government aims to leverage the lessons learned from the Kumbh Mela to ensure a smooth and successful event.
