**Salem, Tamil Nadu – February 27, 2025** – Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin inaugurated a new integrated de-addiction and rehabilitation center at the Salem Government Mohan Kumaramangalam Medical College Hospital (GMKMCH) on Thursday via video conferencing. This is part of a larger state-wide initiative to establish similar centers in 25 districts across Tamil Nadu.

The center offers a comprehensive approach to addiction treatment, providing psychological therapy, indoor sports facilities, and alternative therapies like yoga. It also includes specialized facilities for women and children battling drug addiction. The center will operate daily.

District Collector R. Brindha Devi, who inspected the facility after the inauguration, stated that the initiative aims to create a “drug-free Tamil Nadu.” The treatment program aims to not only help addicts overcome their dependence but also equip them with the skills to support themselves and their families, preventing relapse.
