**Prayagraj, India** – Prime Minister Narendra Modi lauded the recently concluded Maha Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj, praising the collaborative efforts of the central government, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s administration, and the local residents. The 45-day event, which concluded Wednesday, drew an estimated 66 crore (660 million) devotees to the Sangam, the confluence of the Ganga, Yamuna, and Saraswati rivers.
In a blog post and subsequent remarks, Modi expressed his awe at the scale of the event, describing the gathering of millions as a testament to India’s unity and faith. He acknowledged the logistical challenges involved in organizing such a massive gathering, offering an apology for any shortcomings in arrangements. “I pray to Maa Ganga, Yamuna and Saraswati that if we have fallen short in our worship, please forgive us. If we have fallen short in serving the devotees, who are God to me, I seek forgiveness from the public as well,” he stated.
Modi highlighted the unprecedented nature of the Maha Kumbh, emphasizing its unique scale and the spontaneous participation of devotees who travelled from across the country without formal invitations. He was particularly moved by the participation of young Indians, viewing it as a symbol of the country’s enduring cultural values.
The Prime Minister singled out Chief Minister Adityanath’s leadership, crediting his administration for the event’s success. Modi also stated that the Maha Kumbh’s logistical complexities have created a new case study for modern management and policy experts worldwide.
