**Dubai, UAE –** India secured a resounding six-wicket victory over Pakistan in the Champions Trophy 2025, a match dominated by Rohit Sharma’s team. However, cricket fans may be in for a treat later this year, as a report suggests three more India-Pakistan encounters are on the cards during the Asia Cup 2025.
According to Cricbuzz, the 19-match tournament, to be played in the T20 format, is scheduled for the second to fourth week of September. While India was originally assigned hosting duties, the Asia Cricket Council (ACC) has opted for a neutral venue due to the ongoing geopolitical tensions between India and Pakistan. Sri Lanka and the UAE are reportedly being considered. Despite the neutral venue, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will retain its role as the designated host.
This decision follows a recent ACC ruling mandating neutral venues when either the BCCI or the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) are scheduled to host. This measure aims to preempt any controversies surrounding team travel between the two nations. The Champions Trophy 2025 itself saw India’s matches relocated to Dubai after the BCCI refused to send its team to Pakistan, the designated host.
Eight teams will compete in the Asia Cup 2025: India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, UAE, Oman, and Hong Kong. The tournament’s format typically ensures at least two India-Pakistan matches in the group stage, with a potential third clash in the final.
