**COIMBATORE, February 27, 2025** – Construction of the Semmozhi Poonga park in Coimbatore is 73% complete, according to city corporation officials. The ₹161.05 crore project, spread across 157.25 acres of land, is expected to be finished within the next couple of months.

The park, designed to international standards, will boast 22 themed gardens and an organic food court. Significant progress has been made on various aspects, including the compound wall (95% complete), open-air auditorium (80%), and toilets (80%). However, other areas like the food court and gardener’s rooms are at 60% completion.

Key features nearing completion include a 4,830 square meter convention center capable of holding 1,000 people, and extensive parking for 380 cars and 10 buses. A six-kilometer pipeline system to transport treated sewage is also being installed.

The project’s budget includes significant allocations for solar panels and sculptures (₹93.44 crore), the convention center (₹25.56 crore), sewage transportation (₹7.83 crore), parking (₹7.02 crore), an underground water storage plant and storm water drainage (₹19.40 crore), and audio-visual equipment (₹7.80 crore).
