**Bengaluru, February 28, 2025** – A 30-year-old jeweller and two of his security personnel were arrested and later released on bail for allegedly assaulting a restaurant owner in HSR Layout, Bengaluru. The incident, which stemmed from a dispute over a damaged car, escalated when the jeweller, Vishnu, and his associates threatened the restaurant owner, Thiruselvam S., with a machete.
The altercation began on February 9th when Vishnu, in an unregistered high-end vehicle, damaged a car parked outside Thiruselvam’s restaurant. CCTV footage captured the incident. On February 26th, a confrontation occurred when Thiruselvam confronted Vishnu about the damage. When Thiruselvam attempted to retrieve CCTV footage as evidence, Vishnu and his associates allegedly tried to run him over with their car. When he moved out of the way, they threatened him with a machete.
This arrest follows another incident reported the previous day. An employee of the jeweller accused Vishnu and six others of detaining, assaulting, and torturing him for over six hours, forcing him to sign papers admitting to the theft of ₹3.5 lakh worth of gold. The employee filed a complaint with the Koramangala police after receiving treatment at KC General Hospital.
Vishnu has been charged under the Arms Act, 1959, and various sections of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita, 2023. The investigation is ongoing.
