**Madurai, February 27, 2025** – The annual Chitirai festival at the Meenakshi Sundareswarar Temple in Madurai will commence on April 29th with the flag hoisting ceremony, according to a press release. The festival will culminate in a series of events, including the ‘pattabishekam’ on May 6th, ‘dikvijayam’ on May 7th, and the grand celestial wedding (‘thirukalyanam’) on May 8th. The car festival is scheduled for May 9th. Lord Kallazhagar’s journey from Alagarkoil hills will be a key part of the celebrations, with the ‘edhir sevai’ taking place on May 11th and his grand entry into the Vaigai river on May 12th.
