**Ranchi, February 27, 2025** – The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Jharkhand’s state assembly today demanded a thorough investigation into communal clashes that erupted in Hazaribag’s Ichak on Wednesday during Maha Shivaratri celebrations. The clashes, reportedly sparked by a dispute over the installation of religious flags and a loudspeaker, resulted in injuries and the destruction of property, including motorcycles and auto-rickshaws.
BJP legislators disrupted the assembly proceedings, demanding immediate government intervention to restore peace and a transparent probe into the incident. MLA Amit Yadav specifically called for an apology from Minister Irfan Ansari, who allegedly accused BJP workers of involvement in the violence. MLA Pradeep Prasad further urged for a Jharkhand Assembly committee to conduct the investigation.
Assembly Speaker Rabindra Nath Mahato assured the BJP members that they would be given an opportunity to speak after the question hour. Following this assurance, the BJP members resumed their seats, allowing the proceedings to continue. The government has yet to officially respond to the BJP’s demands.
