**Bengaluru, February 27, 2025** – Ahead of summer, the Bangalore Electricity Supply Company (Bescom) launched new energy-efficient BLDC ceiling fans, aiming to reduce electricity consumption by 50% compared to traditional models. The initiative, a collaboration with Karnataka Renewable Energy Development Limited (KREDL) and the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE), is part of a broader capacity-building program.
Bescom Managing Director N. Shivshankar highlighted the fans’ contribution to lowering household energy bills and reducing overall electricity demand, emphasizing their role in creating a more sustainable future. K.P. Rudrappaiah, managing director of KREDL, stressed the importance of energy conservation, noting that saving one unit of electricity is equivalent to generating two. He cited Karnataka’s pioneering Electricity Conservation and Efficiency Policy 2022-27, which aims to save 744 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity and prevent six lakh tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions.
The 5-star-rated BLDC fans are available for ₹2,699 at Bescom’s Center of Excellence in HSR Layout and online through EESL’s website (eeslmart.in).
