Wed Feb 26 18:45:22 UTC 2025: ## Vemulawada Temple Draws Massive Crowds for Maha Shivaratri
**Karimnagar, Telangana, February 27, 2025** – The historic Sri Raja Rajeshwara Swamy Temple in Vemulawada, known as “South Kashi,” witnessed a massive influx of devotees on Wednesday for the Maha Shivaratri festival. The temple town was overflowing with pilgrims from across the region.
Union Minister of State for Home Affairs, Bandi Sanjay Kumar, was among those who offered prayers at the temple. Devotees endured long queues to have darshan of the presiding deity. Special pujas, including Mahanyasa Purvaka Ekadasha Rudrabhishekam and Maha Lingarchana, were performed. Minister for Backward Classes Welfare and Transport, Ponnam Prabhakar, presented silk clothes to the deity on Tuesday evening.
Maha Shivaratri celebrations were also held with religious fervor at other major Shiva temples in north Telangana. Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka and his wife offered prayers at the Sri Ramalingeshwara Swamy temple in Khammam district. Annual fairs commenced at several pilgrimage centers, including Kaleshwaram and Teerthala, coinciding with the festival.
