**Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh – February 27, 2025** – The Sri Damodaram Sanjeevaiah Thermal Power Station (SDSTPS) in Nellore district has reached a significant milestone. Its third 800-MW unit has successfully completed 100 consecutive days of operation since its Commercial Operation Date (COD) on November 18, 2024. During this period, the unit generated 1,596.30 Million Units (MU) of electricity, achieving a Plant Load Factor (PLF) of 83%.

This achievement represents a substantial contribution to the state’s power grid. The SDSTPS consistently generates 45 MU daily, accounting for 40% of Andhra Pradesh’s thermal power generation, according to an official release. The plant’s superior performance is attributed to diligent workforce efforts, robust maintenance strategies, and advanced technological interventions.

Andhra Pradesh Power Generation Corporation Limited (APGenco) Managing Director K.V.N. Chakradhar Babu attributed the success to the state government’s support and visionary leadership. He highlighted that APGenco’s overall thermal generation exceeded 110 MU daily in January 2025, reaching a record high of 123 MU on February 22nd. Babu emphasized the corporation’s commitment to adopting best practices, improving efficiency, reducing emissions, and maintaining high PLF to ensure a 24×7 power supply for all consumers and nine hours of daily power for the agricultural sector.
