**Moodbidri, Karnataka, February 27, 2025** – A two-day international symposium on “Recent Advances in Materials Joining and Manufacturing Processes” concluded recently at Alva’s Institute of Engineering and Technology (AIET) in Moodbidri. The event, jointly hosted by AIET, Kumamoto University (Japan), and BETA CAE Systems India Pvt. Ltd., brought together 20 subject experts and 26 delegates from India and abroad.
Keynote speaker Shuichi Torii, professor and former assistant director at Kumamoto University, emphasized the crucial role of advanced materials joining techniques—like welding, brazing, and soldering—in various applications, from microelectronics to large-scale structures. He highlighted the importance of these methods in improving productivity, quality, and cost-efficiency while achieving unique joint properties.
Other presentations included Suresh Kulkarni of DRDO discussing new concepts in explosive reactive armor for enhanced protection against modern weaponry. Kazuyuki Hokomoto of Kumamoto University explored the innovative applications of explosion phenomena in materials processing.
The symposium was attended by prominent figures including AIET principal Peter Fernandes, and representatives from Sojo University (Japan) and CPRI, Bengaluru. The event underscored the ongoing advancements and collaborations in the field of materials science and manufacturing technology.
