**Chennai, February 27, 2025:** The Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) in Chennai has forecast widespread rainfall across Tamil Nadu, beginning Thursday in coastal areas and extending to South Tamil Nadu by March 1st. Ten districts are expected to experience heavy rainfall in isolated locations on Friday.

The moist northeasterlies are predicted to bring wet weather until March 3rd. While southern districts saw some rainfall on Thursday, with Cheranmahadevi in Tirunelveli district recording the highest at 3 cm, northern parts remained dry. However, scattered rainfall is expected to reach the north, Puducherry, and Karaikal from March 1st.

The rainfall is expected to lead to a five-day drop in daytime temperatures across the region, from February 28th to March 3rd. Ten districts, including Thoothukudi, Pudukottai, Ramanathapuram, and Madurai, face a chance of isolated heavy rainfall on February 28th, with South Tamil Nadu experiencing fairly widespread rain from March 1st. Chennai is also predicted to see light rainfall, potentially increasing slightly on Friday.

Rainfall is expected to gradually decrease from March 2nd, with dry weather anticipated across the state from March 4th.
