**TIRUNELVELI, February 26, 2025** – The District Science Centre in Tirunelveli concluded a week-long 38th annual day celebration with a hands-on workshop for school children focused on paper airplane design. Fifty-six fourth and fifth graders from sixteen schools participated in the event, learning to construct both standard and “flyback” design paper airplanes.
The workshop, led by Education Officer P. Mari Lenin, incorporated a demonstration of basic aerodynamic principles using a model airplane. Students enthusiastically tested their creations, with some expressing aspirations to become pilots. Mr. Lenin highlighted the workshop’s aim to introduce children to aeronautical and aerospace engineering, sparking potential interest in these fields. The children’s active engagement and numerous questions showcased their keen interest in the subject.
The celebrations will culminate on Thursday with an award ceremony for winners of a drawing competition and year-long quiz programs, followed by a public lecture on glacier preservation.
