**Hyderabad, February 26, 2025** – Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi today to request central government approval for several key infrastructure projects in the state. The meeting focused primarily on accelerating the Hyderabad Metro Rail expansion, the Regional Ring Road (RRR) project, and the Musi River rejuvenation initiative.
Reddy urged Modi to expedite approvals for the second phase of the Hyderabad Metro, a 76.4 km expansion costing ₹24,269 crore. He highlighted the previous government’s neglect of the project and emphasized the current administration’s commitment to its completion.
Concerning the RRR, Reddy informed Modi that 90% of land acquisition for the northern section is complete and requested speedy clearance for the southern section, offering to share 50% of the land acquisition costs. He also proposed a regional ring rail along the RRR and the development of a dry port to improve connectivity and goods movement within the landlocked state. Central government support was sought for a greenfield highway and rail line connecting the dry port to neighboring Andhra Pradesh ports.
The Musi River rejuvenation project received significant attention, with Reddy detailing its cultural and spiritual importance. He requested ₹20,000 crore in central assistance for various components, including the construction of 27 sewage treatment plants, bunds, and retaining walls, as well as support for the Godavari-Musi linking project and the transfer of defense land for the Gandhi Sarovar project.
Finally, Reddy addressed the need for an increase in allocated IPS cadre posts to effectively combat cybercrime, drug trafficking, and maintain law and order in growing urban areas. He also advocated for the establishment of the India Semiconductor Mission in Telangana, citing the state’s favorable environment and skilled workforce. The Chief Minister submitted memorandums detailing these requests to Prime Minister Modi.
