Wed Feb 26 09:38:12 UTC 2025: ## Tamil Nadu to Create 50,000 Jobs with New Footwear Manufacturing Projects

**Chennai, February 26, 2025** – The Tamil Nadu government announced a significant investment in its footwear industry today, signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Evervan Kothari Footwear Limited. The ₹5,000 crore investment will establish non-leather footwear manufacturing projects in the Karur and Perambalur districts, creating an estimated 50,000 jobs.

The MoU, signed in the presence of Chief Minister M.K. Stalin, was brokered between the Tamil Nadu Industrial Guidance and Export Promotion Bureau and Evervan Kothari Footwear Limited, a subsidiary of the Phoenix Kothari Group.

According to an official release, the projects are strategically located in industrially backward districts to boost economic development and provide substantial employment opportunities, particularly for women in the region. The initiative is expected to significantly increase individual income levels and contribute to the overall economic growth of Karur and Perambalur. Industries Minister T.R.B. Rajaa and Chief Secretary N. Muruganandam were also present at the signing ceremony.
