**Salem, February 26, 2025** – A sub-inspector in Salem district, Tamil Nadu, has been transferred to the armed reserve following allegations of bribery. A video circulating on social media purportedly shows Karuppannan, 56, a sub-inspector at the Veeraganur Police Station, demanding a ₹2,000 bribe from an illicit liquor seller in Iluppanatham.
District Superintendent of Police (SP) Goutham Goyal confirmed the transfer and ordered an investigation into the incident led by Attur DSP Sathish Kumar. The investigation is currently underway.
