**Hyderabad, February 26, 2025** – Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal has urged global investors to capitalize on India’s burgeoning life sciences sector. Speaking virtually at the BioAsia conference, Goyal highlighted the country’s commitment to international collaboration in healthcare, emphasizing India’s skilled workforce, cost advantages, and thriving innovation ecosystem.
Goyal underscored India’s shift in the life sciences sector from volume to value, driven by initiatives like the production-linked incentive (PLI) schemes. He declared India poised to lead the next wave of healthcare manufacturing, advocating for collaborative efforts to expand access to cutting-edge medical solutions.
The minister praised the Telangana government’s contribution to India’s life sciences sector, noting the state’s status as a leading healthcare hub with significant pharmaceutical clusters and biotech research centers. He cited several central government projects benefiting Telangana, including the Kakatiya Mega Textile Park, an industrial node in Zaheerabad, and the upcoming AIIMS in Bibi Nagar. Goyal also mentioned the construction of over 2,605 km of national highways since 2014 and the development of four greenfield corridors under the Bharat Mala project. The recent inauguration of the National Turmeric Board in Nizamabad was also highlighted. Goyal concluded by emphasizing India’s role as a global supplier of affordable generics.
