Wed Feb 26 13:56:22 UTC 2025: ## SDPI Condemns Proposed Waqf Amendment Bill, Threatens Nationwide Protests

**Hubballi, Karnataka – February 26, 2025** – The Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) held a conference in Hubballi today, vehemently condemning the proposed Waqf Amendment Bill as unconstitutional and anti-Muslim. The party vowed to fight its passage through Parliament, threatening widespread protests if the bill is not defeated.

State SDPI president Abdul Majeed called on all political parties to oppose the bill, specifically targeting Andhra Pradesh and Bihar Chief Ministers Chandrababu Naidu and Nitish Kumar, respectively, warning of electoral consequences if they fail to do so.

Echoing the sentiments, SDPI National Working Committee member Sayeda Sadia drew parallels to the Shaheen Bagh protests, stating that similar demonstrations would erupt across the country if the bill is passed.

SDPI vice-president Abdul Hannan criticized the lack of proper Waqf property surveys despite decades of secular rule, urging a united front against what he termed “fascist forces.” Other SDPI leaders similarly condemned the bill as an attack on the religious and cultural identity of the Muslim community.

Hundreds of community members attended the “Tahaffuz-e-Auqaf” (protection of Waqf) conference. The SDPI plans to further discuss the bill after March 10.
