Tue Feb 25 15:54:30 UTC 2025: ## Tirunelveli Residents Plead for Infrastructure Improvements at Grievance Meeting
**TIRUNELVELI, February 25, 2025** – Residents of Tirunelveli voiced numerous infrastructure concerns at a grievance redress meeting with Mayor K. Ramakrishnan on Tuesday. Key issues included dilapidated roads and inadequate drainage, particularly affecting the Tamil Nadu Slum Clearance Board Colony in Sardarpuram. Residents, residing there since 1997, complained that despite paying property and water taxes for years, the colony lacks basic amenities, with sewage flowing openly in the streets. They highlighted a previous petition submitted on February 18th, where Corporation officials promised, but failed, to address the situation.
Other petitions included requests for stray dog sterilization (Councillor Gogula Vaani Suresh), improved street lighting (Councillor Gogula Vaani Suresh), road repairs (Councillor S. Kandan), park repairs (A’ Colony Public Welfare Committee), land ownership documents (‘patta’) for residents of Gandhi Nagar, and bridge construction (Gandhi Nagar residents). Further requests included road construction in Ward 47 (Councilor Shafi Amir Fath) and road repairs in Anwar Pathusha Nagar (Ward 18 residents). The Mayor received all petitions and is expected to address them accordingly.
