Tue Feb 25 16:16:12 UTC 2025: **CPI Condemns Proposed Reduction in Tamil Nadu’s Lok Sabha Seats**
**Dindigul, Tamil Nadu –** The Communist Party of India (CPI) has strongly condemned the Centre’s proposed delimitation exercise that would reduce Tamil Nadu’s Lok Sabha seats from 39 to 31. State secretary R. Mutharasan addressed the media in Dindigul on Tuesday, stating that this move is anti-democratic and undermines the rights of the people of Tamil Nadu.
Mutharasan argued that the reduction, justified by the state’s comparatively lower population growth due to effective family planning programs, is a punitive measure. He alleges that the Centre is retaliating against Tamil Nadu MPs for their criticism of the Union Budget, NEET, the National Education Policy, and the “One Nation One Election” concept. He characterized the move as an attempt to suppress the voice of the Tamil Nadu people.
Chief Minister M.K. Stalin has called an all-party meeting on March 5th to discuss this issue, and the CPI will participate. Mutharasan urged all political parties in Tamil Nadu to attend and express their collective opposition to the central government’s decision. He further highlighted the Centre’s alleged neglect of Tamil Nadu in terms of fund allocation and other matters.
