**Kolkata, India** – Two brothers have been arrested by Kolkata Police in connection with the murders of their wives and a teenage girl. The bodies of Sudeshna Dey, Romi Dey, and Romi’s daughter were discovered at their Tangra home on February 19th, sending shockwaves through the city. Initially, the brothers, Pranay Dey and Prasun Dey, claimed a suicide pact, reporting a car crash and stating the family had consumed poisoned porridge. However, autopsies revealed the women had been murdered, with their wrists slit and throats deeply injured. The teenager died of poisoning.
Kolkata Police Commissioner Manoj Verma confirmed that no outsiders were involved and that the brothers have confessed to their involvement. While the specifics of each brother’s role are still under investigation, the motive is believed to be linked to the family’s leather goods business, which was facing significant financial difficulties despite maintaining a lavish lifestyle and accumulating substantial debt.
The brothers’ nephew, who was also injured in the car crash and has since recovered, reportedly implicated his uncle in the killings. The police are currently investigating the financial pressures on the family as a potential driving force behind the crimes. Legal proceedings are underway, and authorities are determining the appropriate course of action for the minor boy involved.
