The news comes as a surprise to some, given the team’s 18-11 overall record and current sixth-place standing in the ACC. However, Athletic Director Bubba Cunningham clearly has confidence in Davis, whose tenure has included a Final Four appearance and two Sweet 16 runs.
Under the terms of the new contract, Davis will receive a base salary of $1.25 million annually, supplemented by compensation that increases from $1.7 million this season to $2.1 million by the end of the contract. The agreement also includes performance-based bonuses.
