**CINCINNATI, OH** – Steve Toyloy, a former University of Cincinnati basketball player, passed away at the age of 37, the university announced. Details surrounding the cause of death have not been released.

Toyloy played two seasons for the Bearcats (2008-2010) under head coach Mick Cronin, averaging 3.6 points and 3.5 rebounds per game. The 6’8” forward, a native of West Palm Beach, Florida, played two years at Miami-Dade College before joining UC. During his time with the Bearcats, he appeared in 67 games, starting 29, and averaged 15.7 minutes per game in his senior season.

Following his collegiate career, Toyloy played professionally overseas, including stints in Turkey (Istanbulspor) and Brazil. He notably earned Finals MVP honors while playing in Malaysia’s MPL league in 2019.

The University of Cincinnati basketball program expressed its condolences, stating, “Our thoughts are with Steve’s family, teammates, and all who knew him.”
