Wed Feb 26 11:49:47 UTC 2025: **Chennai’s Beloved Burger Joint, Eatalica, Reopens in New Location**

CHENNAI, INDIA (February 26, 2025) – After a period of relocation, Chennai’s iconic burger joint, Eatalica, has reopened its doors in Cooperative Colony, Alwarpet. The restaurant, originally founded in 2000 by the Kumar family, has cultivated a loyal following over the past 25 years, becoming a cherished spot for generations of Chennai residents.

Eatalica’s unique selling point has always been its commitment to fresh, homemade ingredients. Unlike many of its contemporaries, Eatalica grinds its own meat and crafts its own signature sauces, including a popular barbeque sauce and a light, fluffy mayonnaise, which have become legendary among customers. These sauces have been a source of much speculation over the years, with even long-time staff members remaining tight-lipped about their exact recipes.

The new location boasts a revamped look, moving from the original dingy interior and iconic red couch to a clean, minimalist cafe design. In addition to its classic burgers (with playfully-named options like “Jennifer Showpez” and “Hamfree Bogart”), Eatalica has expanded its menu to include a coffee bar (Roast), a dessert and ice cream bar (Joie), featuring collaborations with other local businesses, and new dishes such as herbed rice with grilled chicken. While some menu items have been tweaked over the years, Eatalica prides itself on retaining the taste and quality that made it famous.

Proprietor Pravesh Kumar, who began working at Eatalica at the age of 13, shared that the restaurant has faced challenges and considered closing down several times. Despite this, its enduring appeal and dedicated customer base have ensured its continued success. The restaurant’s new location is at 38/1, Cooperative Colony, Sri Ram Nagar, Alwarpet. A meal for two is approximately ₹1,200.
