Wed Feb 26 16:24:38 UTC 2025: ## Tamil Nadu Housing Board Computers Seized Over Compensation Dispute

**Ramanathapuram, Tamil Nadu – February 26, 2025** – Court staff seized computers from the Tamil Nadu Housing Board (TNHB) office in Ramanathapuram on Wednesday following a protracted land compensation dispute.

The dispute stems from TNHB’s 1997 acquisition of 1.18 acres of land from Ahamed Jalal for ₹2,500 per cent (approximately $30 USD based on a hypothetical exchange rate). Mr. Jalal challenged the compensation amount, leading to a sub-court order increasing it to ₹5,000 per cent.

While TNHB paid the increased compensation in two installments, they delayed the final payment of ₹1.82 lakh (approximately $2200 USD based on a hypothetical exchange rate). Despite subsequent court orders, the payment remained outstanding.

Mr. Jalal subsequently filed an execution petition, prompting Sub-court judge Akila Devi to order the seizure of computer equipment from the TNHB office on February 13th as compensation. This order was carried out on Wednesday.
