Wed Feb 26 11:21:37 UTC 2025: ## Bihar Cabinet Expanded with Seven BJP Ministers
**Patna, Bihar –** Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar expanded his cabinet on Wednesday, February 26, 2025, inducting seven new ministers from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). The swearing-in ceremony was conducted by Bihar Governor Arif Mohammad Khan. The new ministers are Raju Singh, Vijay Saravgi, Jivesh Mishra, Vijay Mandal, Sunil Kumar, Motilal Prasad, and Krishna Kumar (alias Mantu). The group represents diverse caste backgrounds, including four from the Other Backward Classes (OBCs), one each from Bhumihar, Rajput, and Extremely Backward Class (EBC) communities.
This expansion follows the resignation of Bihar BJP chief and Minister Dilip Jaiswal earlier in the day. The Bihar cabinet now stands at 30 members, with the BJP holding 15 ministerial positions (including two Deputy Chief Ministers), JD(U) holding 13, and one minister each from the Hindustani Awam Morcha (HAM) and an independent. The cabinet has a maximum capacity of 36 ministers.
The last cabinet expansion occurred on March 15, 2024, 46 days after Mr. Kumar rejoined the BJP after severing ties with the Mahagathbandhan (grand alliance) in January 2024. This marks Mr. Kumar’s fifth significant political shift in the past decade.
