**Chandigarh, February 26, 2025** – The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has announced its candidate for the upcoming Ludhiana West Assembly bypoll in Punjab. Rajya Sabha member Sanjiv Arora, a Ludhiana-based industrialist, will contest the seat, according to an X post by AAP national general secretary Sandeep Pathak. The by-election date is yet to be announced.
The seat became vacant following the death of AAP MLA Gurpreet Bassi Gogi last month. Gogi died from a gunshot injury sustained when his licensed weapon accidentally discharged. This announcement comes after the AAP’s recent setbacks in Delhi, with party leader Arvind Kejriwal reportedly shifting his focus to the 2027 Punjab elections.
