Mon Feb 24 19:13:11 UTC 2025: ## Supreme Court Consolidates FIRs Against YouTuber Savukku Shankar

**NEW DELHI, February 25, 2025** – The Supreme Court of India has ordered the consolidation of multiple First Information Reports (FIRs) filed against YouTuber Savukku Shankar for allegedly disparaging remarks made online. The court will combine all FIRs, totaling approximately 15, with the primary one registered at the Coimbatore City Cyber Police Station in May 2024. All evidence will be transferred to the Coimbatore station.

The decision follows arguments from the Tamil Nadu government, which described Shankar’s conduct as “incorrigible,” noting his continued online commentary despite previous court orders. Attorneys for the state highlighted Shankar’s alleged attacks on High Court judges, the police, and journalists, emphasizing his dismissal from his previous role as a constable.

While Shankar’s lawyer claimed his client had issued an unconditional apology, the Supreme Court reiterated a previous order from November 11, 2022, barring Shankar from creating videos or making comments about court proceedings. This order followed a six-month prison sentence imposed by the Madras High Court for criminal contempt, stemming from Shankar’s YouTube comments alleging widespread corruption within the higher judiciary. The High Court’s decision cited the potentially damaging impact of Shankar’s remarks on the judiciary’s prestige. The Supreme Court suspended the prison sentence in 2022 but maintained the restrictions on his online activity.
