Mon Feb 24 19:10:51 UTC 2025: ## Starbucks to Cut 1,100 Corporate Jobs in Restructuring Push

**Seattle, WA –** Starbucks announced Monday it will eliminate 1,100 corporate and administrative positions as part of a major restructuring aimed at boosting flagging sales. The cuts, confirmed by CEO Brian Niccol in a message to employees, will not impact front-line baristas. This represents approximately 7% of the company’s 16,000 administrative and support staff.

The move comes as Starbucks grapples with declining sales. The company reported a profit drop in the most recent quarter, following a four percent decrease in global comparable store sales. Niccol, who joined Starbucks in September 2024, described the restructuring as a necessary step to streamline operations, improve efficiency, and increase accountability. The plan involves simplifying the organizational structure, removing redundant layers, and creating smaller, more agile teams.

In addition to job cuts, Starbucks will also reduce its menu offerings, eliminating some less popular Frappuccino blended drinks. The company cited complexity and redundancy as reasons for the menu reduction.

While the job cuts are significant, the news was met with a positive market response, with Starbucks shares rising 1.6 percent shortly after midday. Niccol has previously outlined plans to revitalize the brand through pilot programs focused on faster service and more personalized customer interactions.
