**Guwahati, Assam –** Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani announced a massive investment boost for Assam at the Advantage Assam 2.0 summit. The conglomerate will quadruple its investment in the state to ₹50,000 crore over the next five years, significantly expanding its presence across various sectors.
This commitment builds upon a previous pledge of ₹5,000 crore, which was later increased to ₹12,000 crore. The new investment will focus on several key initiatives:
* **AI Data Center:** An AI-ready data center will be established, aiming to benefit education, healthcare, and agriculture through AI-assisted technologies. This will also provide remote learning and work opportunities for Assam’s youth.
* **Clean Energy Hubs:** Two world-class Compressed Biogas (CBG) hubs will be built, producing 8 lakh tonnes of clean biogas annually – enough to fuel 2 lakh passenger vehicles daily. Reliance also plans to contribute to Assam’s clean energy sector, including nuclear energy, in alignment with government policy.
* **Mega Food Park:** A new Mega Food Park will add value to Assam’s agricultural and horticultural produce. This builds on Reliance’s existing presence in the state, including a Campa bottling plant and packaged drinking water facilities.
* **Retail Expansion:** Reliance Retail will double its store count in Assam from approximately 400 to over 800 stores within five years.
* **Luxury Hospitality:** A seven-star Oberoi hotel will be constructed to boost Assam’s high-end tourism sector.
Ambani highlighted that these projects will create tens of thousands of jobs, both directly and indirectly. Reliance Foundation will also partner with the state government to promote bamboo and the Sualkuchi silk industry. He attributed the positive developments in Assam to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s focus on the region’s development and technological advancement.
