**Krishnagiri, Tamil Nadu, February 25, 2025** – The National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) has released the Potential Linked Credit Plan (PLP) for Krishnagiri district, projecting a credit potential of ₹22,106.15 crore for the 2025-26 fiscal year. This represents a 20.97% increase compared to the 2024-25 projections.
The PLP highlights significant credit potential across various sectors. Agriculture, including infrastructure and allied activities, is projected to receive ₹14,250 crore. The MSME sector is estimated to receive ₹6,006.88 crore, reflecting recent policy initiatives supporting its growth. Priority sector lending is projected at ₹63.75 crore (export credit), ₹30.60 crore (education), and ₹114.56 crore (housing). Support for Self Help Groups (SHGs) and Joint Liability Groups (JLGs) through informal credit delivery systems is estimated at ₹1,562.52 crore.
Collector C. Dinesh Kumar urged banks to prioritize medium and long-term agricultural credit, emphasizing opportunities in farm mechanization, micro-irrigation, and animal husbandry. NABARD’s District Development Manager, S. Ramesh, explained that the sector-wise assessment considered current trends, cost changes, and credit flow patterns. The Lead Bank Manager, Saravanan, stated that the Annual Credit Plan for 2025-26 will be based on the NABARD’s PLP inputs, urging banks to focus on the identified investment credit areas.
