**Kampala, Uganda –** Ugandan police are investigating the death of Nigerian footballer Abubakar Lawal, 29, who fell from the third floor of a Kampala shopping mall on Monday. Lawal, a striker for Ugandan premiership club Vipers SC, was visiting a Tanzanian friend residing in a residential apartment within the Voicemall Shopping Arcade when the incident occurred. Police are reviewing CCTV footage and conducting interviews to determine the circumstances surrounding his death. Vipers SC released a statement expressing deep sadness and offering condolences to Lawal’s family and friends. He had played for the club since July 2022, previously playing for AS Kigali in Rwanda.
