Tue Feb 25 17:34:56 UTC 2025: ## Nitish Kumar’s Son Calls for NDA to Declare Him CM Candidate in Bihar

**Patna, Bihar –** Nishant Kumar, son of Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, has urged the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) to publicly declare his father as their chief ministerial candidate for the upcoming state assembly elections. This call comes a day after Prime Minister Narendra Modi referred to Nitish Kumar as Bihar’s “beloved” Chief Minister during a visit to Darbhanga. While some JD(U) leaders expressed disappointment that Modi didn’t explicitly endorse Kumar’s leadership for the election, Nishant Kumar directly appealed for the NDA to formally name his father as their candidate.

The statement followed a closed-door meeting between Nitish Kumar and BJP president J.P. Nadda in Patna, attended by senior leaders from both parties. While details of the meeting remained undisclosed, Nishant Kumar stated that his father’s long tenure and public works warrant his reappointment as CM, expressing confidence in a decisive electoral victory for the JD(U) – aiming for 225 out of 243 seats.

Meanwhile, JD(U) state president Umesh Singh Kushwaha reiterated the party’s ambitious goal of securing 225 seats and ensuring Nitish Kumar’s return as Chief Minister. He urged party officials to intensify their grassroots campaign efforts in preparation for the election. Nishant Kumar, when questioned about his own potential entry into politics, deflected, saying the decision rests with the public.
