**Madurai, February 25, 2025** – A Madurai court sentenced Gopal Krishna Daga to life imprisonment and a ₹10,000 fine for the 2022 murder of a lodge manager, G. Dharmarajan. Daga, a Rajasthan resident who frequently stayed at the lodge, strangled Dharmarajan with a mobile phone charger and stole his gold chain and rings. The Thideer Nagar police investigated the case following a complaint. The Fifth Additional District Judge R. Joseph Joy presided over the trial.
