Tue Feb 25 18:00:00 UTC 2025: ## NFL Draft Expert Projects First Round Based on Combine Performances

**Indianapolis, IN** – With the NFL Combine underway, ESPN draft analyst Mel Kiper Jr. has released an updated first-round mock draft, incorporating early combine buzz and scouting reports. His projections reveal a draft class brimming with talent, particularly in the trenches, though the quarterback position remains a significant question mark.

Kiper’s mock features two quarterbacks taken in the first round, a number unchanged from his January predictions. However, several players have seen their stock rise, most notably those playing offensive and defensive line positions. The analyst emphasizes that the draft order is still very fluid, with the Combine, upcoming pro days, free agency, and potential trades all poised to significantly impact team needs and player rankings.

While some prospects, such as receiver Hunter, are considered first-round locks, others, like defensive lineman Williams, have much to prove at the Combine after injury-hampered seasons. The mock draft features several intriguing scenarios, including the possibility of the Tennessee Titans trading the number one overall pick to a quarterback-needy team for the services of either Miami’s Cam Ward or Colorado’s Shedeur Sanders. Despite Ward being the current consensus top quarterback prospect, Kiper projects the Titans to select Will Anderson Jr, a pass-rushing edge defender, to bolster their defense.

The New York Giants’ selection is another key storyline. While Sanders is highly ranked, Kiper suggests the Giants may opt for a veteran quarterback instead of betting on the QB2 in this class, using the pick to address other significant needs on their roster.

Other notable selections in Kiper’s mock draft include: the New England Patriots choosing an offensive lineman to protect their young quarterback; the Jacksonville Jaguars selecting an interior defensive lineman; the Las Vegas Raiders selecting a running back; and the New York Jets, needing a quarterback after moving on from Aaron Rodgers, potentially drafting Shedeur Sanders.

Kiper’s full 32-pick mock draft is available on a SportsCenter special airing Tuesday at 5 p.m. ET on ESPN2. He cautions that with free agency looming and the Combine still ongoing, significant changes to his projections remain likely.
