**Krishnagiri, Tamil Nadu, February 25, 2025** – Hundreds of members of the Joint Action Council of Tamil Nadu Teachers Organisations and the Government Employees Organisation (JACTO-GEO) staged a massive protest in Krishnagiri on Tuesday, defying a Madurai High Court order. The protest, held near the new bus stand, followed failed negotiations with the state government on Monday.
The protestors are demanding a ten-point charter of demands, most notably the reinstatement of the Old Pension Scheme (OPS) in place of the current New Pension Scheme (NPS). Similar protests, led by the Tamil Nadu Teachers Organisation and the Government Employees Organisation, also took place in Dharmapuri. The demonstrations highlight the ongoing tension between the state government and its employees over pension reforms.
