Tue Feb 25 06:30:00 UTC 2025: ## Singapore Airlines Soars to New Heights, Winning Multiple Awards and Expanding its Global Network
**Manila, Philippines** – Singapore Airlines (SIA) is celebrating a banner year, marked by numerous prestigious awards and significant global expansion. The airline, already lauded as the world’s most awarded, recently added to its collection of accolades, including Skytrax’s 2024 awards for World’s Best First-Class Service, Best Cabin Staff, and Best Airline in Asia. Business Traveller Asia-Pacific and the UK also recognized SIA with top honors for Best Airline, Best First Class, and Best Economy Class.
SIA’s success extends beyond awards. The airline significantly expanded its network in 2024, adding new routes including direct flights from Singapore to Cebu in the Philippines, Brussels (after a 20-year absence), and London Gatwick. Flights to Beijing Daxing International Airport were also added. To meet increased demand, flight frequencies to several popular destinations were also boosted.
Liwei Tai, SIA Philippines general manager, highlighted the airline’s commitment to the Filipino market, noting the growing demand for higher-quality travel experiences. SIA caters to this by offering world-class service, comfortable seating, and diverse in-flight entertainment and dining options. Furthermore, SIA actively promotes the Philippines as a travel destination, collaborating with local tourism boards to attract international visitors. Statista reports that 36.44 million passengers flew with SIA from 2023-2024.
SIA’s strategic partnerships also contribute to its success. A new codeshare agreement with Philippine Airlines enhances travel connections between Singapore and the Philippines. This collaboration, along with other partnerships, expands SIA’s network to 387 destinations.
Tai acknowledged the challenges faced by the airline industry, including geopolitical uncertainties and inflation, but emphasized SIA’s resilience. The airline’s strategic initiatives, including a fleet modernization program and a significant liquidity raise during the COVID-19 pandemic, positioned it for growth. A substantial investment of S$1.1 billion in cabin upgrades for 41 A350 aircraft, including the introduction of a new First Class cabin on select aircraft, demonstrates SIA’s continued commitment to providing premium travel experiences. The airline’s return to profitability in the second half of 2023 further solidifies its strong position in the global aviation market.
